The violent activities of terrorist groups have been ongoing in Nigeria since the Independence. It took a violent dimension in 1987 in Kafanchan, Kaduna State when the first public uprising occurred during a crusade. Since then, killings, destructions, and devastations of some target groups, ethnic groups and their assets became perennial in the northern parts of the country.
In addition to the humanitarian distress of becoming refugee in one’s country, the children are the most unfortunate victims of this crisis. For many of them, the joy of childhood was suddenly ruptured and thrust into the uncertainty of existence in IDP camps, many of the children have been out of school for years. There are reported cases of children out of school for over seven years.
Karis Humanitarian foundation has taken up the challenging task to provide education for children in the IDP camps.
